Special Events at Christ Church

Baptism

Baptisms are held during 10:45am service usually on the 3rd Sunday of each month (not December).

In baptism, we thank God for his gift of life and publicly acknowledge his love. In the Anglican Church it is common to baptism young children; this is sometimes known, outside the church, as christening.

To enquire about getting baptised yourself, or to have your child baptised here at Christ Church, email the office with your name, address and phone number.

If you do not live in the Parish or worship at the Church – you will need to get written permission from the Vicar of the Parish you live in.

We will send you an application form – which must be returned to confirm the booking.

Then we will arrange date for Alan, our vicar, to visit you. This visit can take place at your home or at the vicarage.

Weddings

To enquire about getting married at Christ Church, we will need your name, address and telephone number. We also need to know whether you have previously married.

Email the church office, noting the date that you would like to get married.

It is Rev’d Alan’s decision as to whether you can marry here. You cannot demand a date, although in most cases Alan is quite flexible.

Generally speaking, if one of both of you live in the Parish you are ok to marry at Christ Church.

If both of you live outside the parish you will need to establish a qualifying connection (QC) with the Parish (for further info see Church of England website ). If you are to establish a QC you must prove this to Alan, a form must be completed and a different form of Banns is read.

If either one of you have been divorced you will need to see Alan before any decision can be made on whether you can marry at CC. The office cannot advise any further - the decision is up to Alan.
