There are three services held at Christ Church each
Sunday, each with its own distinct character. Visitors are very welcome to join
us at any of these.
Please do stay with us after the service for refreshments
and a chat, or if you would value prayer with the prayer ministry team who are
always available after the service. There are also regular prayer times held in
church.
The early.church@9am service is usually quiet and
contemplative, based on Common Worship and including mostly traditional hymns
and a sermon. There is a small robed choir. Holy Communion is celebrated at
least three times each month, the other being Morning Prayer. Tea and coffee are
served in the Upper Room after the service where we meet for informal
fellowship.
The allage.church@10.30am service has particular emphasis
towards families with children up to early teens. The whole family worships
together for the first 15 minutes before the children leave for their own age
based groups. The service is informal in style with a worship group leading
contemporary songs. Communion is celebrated once each month.
Every other week we offer a British Sign Language
interpreted service. This is an essential part of the church’s worship, enabling
access to worship for deaf people and enriching the life of the church.
The late.church@7pm is designed to be contemporary,
informal and challenging. Whilst the service is attended by our students and
young people, it does appeal to a wide range of ages.
Attendance has grown rapidly in recent years. Communion is
celebrated once each month.
What draws people is the strong emphasis on:
-
Fellowship (we start at 6:30pm with coffee and
biscuits)
-
Worship (contemporary)
-
Teaching (which seeks to connect the Word of God with
the World of God)
-
Openness to the work of the Holy Spirit
