Alan Howe

Alan Howe

Alan, the parish vicar, has overall responsibility for all areas of the church’s ministry in Chilwell, including the worship centres of St. Barnabas, Inham Nook, and St. Barnabas, Lenton Abbey. He has a wide range of experience, having been ordained for almost 30 years and has been leading the church in Chilwell since September 2005.

Sonia Barron

Sonia Barron

Sonia has been Curate at Christ Church since she was ordained Deacon at Southwell Cathedral in July 2011. She previously worked as Adviser to the Church of England's Committee for Minority Ethnic Anglican Concerns. Sonia is married to Tom and they have two sons.

Fran Beedell

Fran Beedell

Fran oversees pastoral ministry within Christ Church which includes prayer ministry, small groups and welcomers. She also regularly leads at the 7pm service and is on the leadership team for this service. She has worked for the church since 2002 and also works in a school as a music teacher.

Charles Hume

Charles Hume

Charles is our Church Operations Manager. His role is to enable ministry in the widest sense. Thus he is responsible for managing all the church facilities, buildings, grounds and equipments, and running the church office. He also regularly leads and preaches at the 7pm service. Charles has worked for the church since 2009, having previously been an engineer in the Navy.

 

Liam O'Boyle

 Liam joined Christ Church in 2011 as Associate Priest, having previously been Team Vicar in Clifton. He is also Diocesan Partnerships Officer, working to form links between churches and statutory organisations, the voluntary sector and other faith groups, identifying and developing partnerships so that together we can best serve and meet the needs of people in local communities in different parts of Nottingham.

 

Tim Bevington

Tim is our children's and family worker and trained with Centre for Youth Ministry at St John's Theological College, Nottingham.  After being on placement at Christ Church for the past three years, he is now working full time. He got married in December 2012 to Elin.

Church Wardens

Our wardens are Penelope Wallace and Tim Easun. The churchwardens are elected annually by church members and are the representatives of the church to the vicar and the vicar to the church. They have practical responsibility for the buildings and fabric of the church and help the vicar in developing the strategic direction for the church .

Wardens are elected by the parish Annual General Meeting. They are then formally appointed by the Bishop and act as Officers for the Bishop.

Their roles are:

  • to support the vicar and work with the vicar in leading the church
  • to be responsible for the buildings and grounds of the church

Church Office

The office deals with:

  • Publishing the Christ Church notice sheet each week (available via email, church website and paper copy)
  • General queries
  • Room bookings
  • Bookings for baptisms, funerals or weddings
  • Ordering supplies
  • Booking appointments for the vicar (Alan Howe)
  • Supporting the services by providing the paperwork and administration
  • Practical queries

Kerry Broadley, our administrator, manages the day to day running of the office and co-ordinates the operation of the church centre.
